new beginnings

Where does one begin with a blog? Journals, diaries, reviews and papers hold the same problem for me: where to start. There’s so much to be said.

I could write down a history of myself, bringing my audience up to speed on who exactly I am but it comes to mind that less is often more and to the advantage of everyone. As my dad often tells me, compliments of Mr. Strunk, “Omit needless words.” And as my dear friend suggested after I asked personal questions, “leave a little mystery.” I will.

I’m writing for discovery – for my audience and for myself. I’m writing a journey.

So, I start.

Today at work, after probing me on my interests and education, a parishioner recommended to me starting a blog. I don’t know why he did but I’m finally in the place of taking suggestions in life so I said, “Okay.”

I’m independent. Fiercely so. Once my dad kindly informed me that I’m the type of person that always asks for advice but never takes it. (I’m not so sure that is a type but I feel better to think in pluralities here). Recently, though, I find myself adjusting. I’m taking advice, making changes, responding to constructive criticism, and changing. I’m editing myself. All for the better, I hope. I feel as though I’m becoming myself and a lot of that has to do with the advice given to me by friends and family and encouragers along the way. So, I started a blog.

At the moment I can’t quite know where it will take me but I hope to make some discoveries along the way.

So thanks for joining my journey, dear passersby. I hope we all enjoy the ride.

Here’s to new beginnings!

  1. Cheers to you and this journey of self discovery and growth. I intend to read much more by The Taylor Webb in the future. 🙂
